Government
College Old Boys' Association in the Americas
(GCU-OBA-AMERICAS) was formally chartered as a
non-profit corporation in the Tennessee with tax-exempt
status. The history
of its formation (along with other
articles and newsletters) can be found either
as links or as download-able files at the bottom
of this page.
In being consistent with our beloved GCU, our
motto is "Keep the Ship Sailing".
The
objectives of GCU-OBA-AMERICAS are to:

organize
our collective efforts to continuously provide
benefits for the future improvement and viability
of GCU through scholarships, donations, and
special projects.

provide a network of professional and business
referrals among members.

provide assistance to new arrivals in the Americas.
Other activities include:
-
establishing and maintaining a web-site for
online communication.
- publishing
a directory of members for distribution.
-
publishing newsletters and distributing to members,
the current GCU administration and other GCU
OBAs'.
-
organizing an annual or biannual re-union.
Anyone
who attended any program of study at Government
College, Ughelli (GCU) and is resident in the
Americas and associated islands and territories,
is automatically a member of the Association.
We refer to members in formal print by writing
the person's name followed by year of entry. For
example, John Wazobia '59 refers to somebody who
entered the GCU in 1959.
