Thanks to all for another great reunion!
Thanks to all for another great reunion. We had a blast!!!

This was the best so far and marked a series of firsts!

  • We had 30 Mariners ( the largest number so far) at the general meeting
  • Spouses and kids went on a bus trip to Niagara Falls and visited the Butterfly conservatory
  • NEPA- strike (only those that attended would get this)
  • We witnessed our first Presidential transition with Dr Awipi taking over as President.
  • Had the Nigerian Ambassador as our guest at the dinner

Below are some comments from attendees:

First let me thank you and the local organizing committee for your time and devotion in putting up such a memorable reunion. My wife was very happy with the trip to Niagara Falls and talked about the mist they walked through. As the president during the ensuing reunions up to this, you people made me very proud. We saw the progress that has been made in hosting the reunions. I want to congratulate and commend all of you, our hosts, for not only the personal sacrifices but also for the large financial contributions you made to ensure the success of the reunion. - Ogbemi Omatete ‘53

I also wish to say "Thank You" to all of you for a job well done. The reunion has helped us to advance on our mission to return GCU to its glory days for the benefit of generations of our sons and daughters far into the future. - Mebenin Awipi ‘54

I wish to commend you for the excellent work of putting together the last meeting. I/really had a great time - John Ejaife ‘54

Congratulations to the Canadians for an excellent Reunion. My wife and I enjoyed it so much we stayed back to visit Niagara Falls and the CN Tower. Kudos to all. - Olu Sawyerr ‘56

On behalf of my family, I like to express my deepest thanks to you all for the marvellous and wonderful organization that went into the preparation and execution of the 2009 GCU-OBA reunion. It was very well organized and provided a nice family atmosphere. This atmosphere spread into our business meeting which was cordial, intellectual and filled with the usual Mariners ability to question and yet be respectful. - Kome Onokpise ‘64
