Felix Neequaye Akpe was born in Burutu, in the Niger Delta (now Delta State, Nigeria) on March 29, 1943.
After completing his primary education at St. Anna Catholic School, Burutu (1949 - 1955), he was admitted into the prestigious Government College, Ughelli in 1956 as a United African Company (UAC) scholar where he excelled in both academics and extra-curricular activities and in 1964 was chosen under the African Scholarship Program of American Universities (ASPAU) to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he majored in Economics (magna cum laude) in 1967 and proceeded to pursue an MBA from Harvard University. |

Fellow Mariners, I regret to announce the passing of my classmate and friend, Dr. Felix Akpe here in Mississippi , USA . He was resident in Nigeria but had come to the United States for medical treatment. Felix Akpe was admitted to class 1, Ashaka House, at GCU in September 1956. He passed the West African School Certificate exam in 1961 and was awarded Grade 1. He completed the Higher School certificate in the top 10% of his class in 1963 and was the head of Ashaka House. |

Professor Tagirin A. Fregene Passes On To Eternity |

Professor Tagirin A. Fregene entered Government College Ughelli in 1951 and was in Sapele House. He moved onto Ashaka House as one of the foundation students of the new house. Professor Fregene had excellent results both in School Certificate (O-Level) and Higher School Certificate (A-Level).
